Kankuro

Kankuro was always dubbed and always would be the middle child. He wasn't as intelligent or quite the over-achiever as his sister. He wasn't the favored, nor was he as unafraid as Gaara. Gaara could get up in someone's face without backing down, but Kankuro always had that voice in the back of his head that shoved him back. That's where his big talk and attitude came into play. Being pushed aside as just "the other child", Kankuro was wreckless---trying to find means to stand out. If it wasn't getting in fights and in trouble in school then it was scaring the local kids with face paint and bad breath. His favorite hideout was either the principle's office or detention, finding home even more scarce after his mother's death. Temari had been his only hopeful piece of sanity and motherly figure after such that tragic event. His father certainly didn't care, or at least pretended not to. It wasn't as if the neighboring people of Sunukure were warm and inviting either, in fact they always whispered and talked among themselves despite the political position that his father held. However, Kankuro was the average child that never received the same backlash as his siblings. He was the one that looked most like his father. He was the one that seemed lost and confused and therefore not worth the talk. He was the troubled child that tried too hard, and never got his foot in the door. Easily forgotten and ganked into society as the one that would never amount to much. It was words and thoughts like that, that drove Kankuro away during his high school years. He spent some time in the military academy only to return to the news of his father's mysterious death. After his sister's departure to college, Kankuro stayed in Sunakure for a time before realizing that the memories, and the uselessness he felt wouldn't die. It was then that he packed up and followed his sister's footsteps and into San Francisco. That was Kankuro, always one step behind.

Once in San Francisco he found that maybe another big city with different people, a new enviorment would be what he needed to start afresh. He'd lay low for a few months, getting his grip in place before allowing his sister to know he wasn't at home anymore. He was struggling in a one bedroom apartment that was quickly running low on electricity. It was dark, smelled funny and still taking what little he made out of his bi-weekly paycheck---but it was his. It was something he'd accomplished on his own, something he'd given to himself. It was a small reward and confidence kick that had been devoid of his life for so many years.
